Fist off, we would like to wish all of our customers a very Happy Thanksgiving and let you know that when we count our blessings, we are very thankful for each and every one of you. We know that you can choose to shop at a wide variety of places and we are thankful that you choose to support Eclectica, an independent papercrafting supply store. It means the world to us!

Cards with Copics Class ~ this Saturday

On Saturday, October 22, at 10:30am Mary will be teaching her monthly Cards With Copics. This is a great class for those of you who have taken a basic introduction to Copic Markers class, but who would love to learn some more techniques and get some more practice.

Mary will be teaching more shading and blending techniques for you to use while creating a Fall and a Christmas card. This is a monthly class, but the cards that you create are different every month. Markers are available for you to use during class, but if you would like to bring or purchase your own markers, just call or come by the store. We have a list of the colors that will be used during class.

A Wonderful Memory Box Special Event ~ Coming Soon!

Angela Finet, who is a Memory Box Design Team Member and Stamp Store Owner, will be coming to Eclectica on Saturday, October 8 to teach 2 classes. In both classes, participants will be creating a series of cards using products and techniques that are NEW to Eclectica.

Sweet on Gelatos
Saturday, October 8 at 11:00 AM
Cost: $25

Gelatos are extra creamy, water-soluble crayons from Faber-Castelle that are too much fun to work with. In this class Angela will help participants to create a series of cards featuring a variety of techniques using Gelatos as well as the latest Memory Box stamps and papers. One of the best parts, these Gelatos have no calories! Class participants need to bring their basic tool kit to class.

Glitterama!
Saturday, October 8 at 2:30 PM
Cost: $25

Join Angela for a class that sparkles and shines. Participants will be working with stamps and papers from Memory Box as well as new products from Elizabeth Craft Design which includes the most Ultrafine Glitter to ever hit the market. The focus of this class will be creating cards with glitter and other shiny objects which will include techniques for coloring over glitter with Copic markers. You will never look at glitter the same way again! Participants need to bring their basic tool kit as well as a reservoir brush and tweezers.

David Brethauer, Co-Owner and Designer for Memory Box

Will Be Teaching 2 Classes at Eclectica

Monday, August 1

David Brethauer and his wife, Monica are the co-owners of Memory Box Stamps. Dave is also the designer for the stamps for Memory Box. We are so excited that he will be at Eclectica on Monday, August 1 to teach not one, but two classes for us.

Each class is about 2 hours long and there will be approximately an hour between the classes for a quick dinner or snack.

The classes are $40 each, but customers who sign up for both classes will receive a $10 store credit to be used on the day of the Memory Box classes.

Class Descriptions:

Memory Box Holiday Colored Pencils 3:30pm-5:30pm
Come and learn about color, blending and shading while using Memory Box images and papers and our latest dies! Each student will make 5 cards using colored pencil techniques that will make you color like a pro. We'll put color to work in analogous and complementary color schemes to really make your greeting cards stand out!

Memory Box Watercolor 6:30pm-8:30pm
This fun class teaches watercolor through watercolor paints and watercolor pencils. Learn the advantages of each watercolor media and get some helpful tips for applying watercolor to greeting cards. Try out different types of watercolor paper while learning washes and blending techniques. Each student will create 5 cards in an informative and supportive teaching style.

Dave will be using brand new products from Memory Box's What's in the Box Fall/Christmas release which is scheduled to ship to stores in July.

Dave will provide colored pencils, watercolors and brushes. He asks that each class participant bring a paper trimmer, scissors and a strong double sided adhesive tape.

Mom & Me Summer Crafting Series

Journal Making Class this Saturday!

Creative Ideas Journal Making Class: Saturday, May 21 at 1:30 PM -- $18

We're leaving sign-ups for this great class open until Friday, May 20 at 7 PM. Can't make it on Saturday? Sign up as usual and Alissa will make this class into a kit for you, complete with instructions and color photos, available for pick up after class has met.

Have you ever thought of starting an art journal? What about a sketch book for layout ideas? Or, have you wanted a place to hold paper swatches and photos so you have them handy to color match while shopping at Eclectica? We have the perfect solution! In this class, you'll create a customizable "creative ideas" journal, totally from scratch. That's right - we're starting from the ground up in this class, crafting the entire book using chipboard, book binding tape and other crafty materials. We'll then embellish it with the beautiful and inspiring "Daily Junque" paper line from Pink Paislee. This journal won't disappoint - we're including a pocket, paper pad, and tons of other handy little details. You won't want to craft without it!

Please note: In addition to your basic tool kit, please bring Creamy Brown chalk ink (or equivalent), strong holding, quick drying liquid adhesive and a Crop-a-Dile (if you have one).

Creative Cards: Feminine & Fabulous

Monday, April 18th at 10:30 a.m. and Tuesday, April 19th at 6:30 p.m.

This month's card class will fill your card stash with loads of fabulously feminine cards for the women in your life. Cute, fun and funny, we'll create a total of four card perfect for HER. One of these will also be a Mother's Day card (other sentiments will be available). Don't worry, we haven't forgotten about the men in our lives - that class will be next month!

Alissa has loaded this class with tons of tips, tricks and techniques (including a cool Ranger product paint resist technique). You’ll leave class with four completed cards, detailed instructions and a color photograph of the samples. We think this class is one of our best bargains at only $14.

By customer request, Alissa is repeating her menu board chalkboard class so many of you have commented on in the store, with the new kitchen-appropriate papers, Imaginisce Berrylicious! Keep track of what's for dinner, your grocery list or notes to the family on this altered wooden chalkboard. A perfect Mother's Day gift for the women in your life... or for yourself! This large menu board (approximately 11x14") can either hang on the wall or sit on the counter. Even if you've never "altered" before, this is the perfect class to get your feet wet, but will thrill papercrafters of all levels.

In addition to your basic tool kit, please bring a foam brush and a bottle of Mod Podge (matte or glossy - your choice) and a chestnut roan chalk ink, if you have one.

We're leaving sign-ups for this class open until 7 p.m. on Friday. You must sign up by then so we have ample time to prep the frames prior to class.

Can't make it Saturday? No problem! Sign up for class as usual and mention you're taking this class as a kit. Alissa will prep the project for you (you'll need to add a coordinating acrylic paint from your stash) and it will be ready for pick-up after class as met. Alissa's instructions are fabulous, with step-by-step instructions and color photographs, so completing this project on your own will be a snap.

If you're at all crafty, you don't want to miss this fabulous technique class! Alissa will teach you how to create EIGHT different flowers, all from scratch, all from paper. There are so many uses for these beauties - from cards to scrapbook pages to home decor. You'll walk away from class with eight completed coordinating flowers, detailed instructions and color photographs of the flowers so you can recreate them at home whenever you want. In addition to your basic tool kit, please bring an assortment of glue dots (mini & medium/craft), a strong holding quick drying liquid adhesive (like Scrappy glue), chestnut roan chalk ink and an edge distresser if you have one (such as the one made by Heidi Swapp or Making Memories). OK, so I realize it's not quite Christmas time yet, and we've barely had a week of nice fall weather, but I can't help myself. All the fun new Christmas merchandise that's come in lately have me thinking of colorful lights, hanging stockings and beautifully wrapped presents.

So, since it's a tad bit early for me to start the arduous process of decorating my house, one thing I can do is start planning my Christmas cards. And these beautiful rubber stamps by Inky Antics and Great Impressions are exactly what I had in mind.

CAUTION: Photo-heavy post!

If you haven't stopped by the store in the last week or so, then you have no idea what you're missing. Let me give you a little hint: it's A WHOLE LOT!

We've received so much new merchandise, it's been like Christmas morning around here. Or like the morning of your birthday. Or like sleeping in on a Saturday. Or like cuddling on the sofa with a wonderful book on a cold rainy day. I guess what I'm trying to say is that our new arrivals are nothing short of AWESOME!

Their One Fall Day collection has me yearning for cool crisp days spent sipping hot apple cider while searching for the perfect pumpkin and enjoying hayrides at the pumpkin patch. Wow, I didn't realize how much I miss Fall until just now.

And their Midterm collection is SO fun. While it's geared toward high school and college life, it's versatile enough to cater to all ages! I'm thinking a back to school layout is in my not too distant future.

Ooh, or maybe one about how much I rely on texting for my day-to-day communication. I so love it when one collection offers limitless possibilities.

In my own humble opinion, this collection is exactly why "OMG!" was created!

Bittersweet

Back in April, we offered a scrapbooking class called Fast Formulas for Fabulous Pages. The concept is simple ~ being short on scrapbooking time does not mean not being able to actually sit down and scrapbook.

So here's the good news: since this class was SO well received, we've decided to do it again,... with ALL NEW FORMULAS!

Join Liz this coming Tuesday as she walks you through the process of using three different formulas (sketches) to create some truly unique pages. You will leave class with three (3) photo-ready 12x12 layouts, detailed instructions and nine (9) different formulas that you can later use yourself.

What is more relaxing than warm sand, sparkling ocean waves and a beautiful sunset? Share this moment and create a beautiful sunset scene you’ll be proud to display with copic markers. Class participants will work step by step with Kimm to create a beach scene from multiple stamps, exercise coloring strategies for sunrise/sunsets and learn a unique multimedia technique for a one of a kind mat to show off that sunset scene! Finished 8”x 10” project will be mounted and ready to display or frame.

Please note: This is a workshop length class limited to 8 participants to allow for more personalized tutoring with Kimm. Class is suitable for intermediate to advanced copic users. A listing of copic markers to be used will be posted prior to class.
