Sketch Thursday - July 30th

Here's what Rhonda started out with to create this week's page. You'll see that in her layout, she substituted the torn edge and layered paper for a clean edge with wide ribbon. (an excellent way to show off some of those beautiful and fun ribbons that are too bulky when tied into bows for a page) She opted to leave off the journaling spot, instead leaving the focus completely on her image. She also changed the proportions of the page just a little so that her title wasn't hanging off at the bottom. Her smaller photo allows her to show off that adorable SEI paper too!

Sketch Thursday - July 23rd

This week's sketch has some fun possibilities and is perfect for creating a double page spread that flows wonderfully. It's also a great way to use those really neat die-cut papers and get alot of out them, because you can cut it in half and use on both pages (just mirror the 1st page for the matching one) or you can be like Rhonda, and only use a quarter of a page. You still get that impact and wonderful textural quality- a little does go a long way. She opted out of journaling, allowing more of the gorgeous Basic Grey paper to shine, but there's plenty of space for telling your story, or even adding some smaller images that reinforce the photo block on the right of the page.

Sketch Thursday - July 16th

Think of all the scraps you could use up making this sketch! on the left side, where all the strips are, you could use coordinating papers from within a line, or slice up a larger scrap and do it like Rhonda did. She added more photos (smaller sized) and left off the journaling and the title, opting for an embellishment that carried her star motif throughout the entire layout.

Tell us what kind of sketches you want to see in the future- more cards? maybe an 8 1/2 x 11? we want to know what you think! We'll choose a random comment from all submitted and that person will win a prize package! Winner to be chosen and announced with our next Sketch Thursday.

Sketch Thursday - July 9th

This week's sketch is super customizable. Rhonda took the motif from the intersecting papers and ran it down the side (imagine this with flowers for a girly layout!) You could even add additional photos running down where she has stars (like cropped photos or those small ones that no one ever knows what to do with!) Where she has her title, you could also add journaling if your title was smaller.

Let's see some of your work! What are you making from these sketches!?!

New Arrivals- October Afternoon

October Afternoon has been wildly popular for us, with their previous releases almost completely selling out in less than 2 weeks. This line has perfect timing! So many people are choosing to do road-trip vacations instead of pricey resort trips this summer and these papers are perfect for where ever your destination may be! Six double sided papers, stickers, embellishment cards, and rub-ons ensure that your layout will be perfectly coordinated. For our card makers, the 8x8 pack is a dream. The patterns are scaled down and are ideal for "wish you were here" creations.

We also got in a selection of Doodlebug's Just my Type letter stickers. These are great for pages especially since they are in upper and lower cases and there are LOTS of letters. The Mini Just my Type stickers (not pictured) are great for sub-titles and for cards.

Sketch Thursday - July 2nd

This week's sketch has lots of room for personalization! Just look at how Rhonda modified it to make it work for the photos she had. Her layout has a fresh, clean look because of her paper selections and her linear composition, but if you want something more vintage or whimsical, you could tear the layers, distress them by crumpling and/or inking, put your photos on angles, do a photo mosaic.... the possibilities are endless!
